What does 18mm mean? The measurement is the band width: the distance in millimeters between the two lugs where the strap attaches to the watch case. An 18mm watch strap will only fit a watch with 18mm between the lugs, so measure from the inside of one lug to the other before ordering.
What watches have 18mm? A common size for smaller men's watches, many women's watches, vintage dress watches and field watches. A strap that is too wide cannot fit between the lugs, and one that is too narrow leaves visible gaps.
